The the 2009-10 Piketon Redstreaks return 3 starters from last years Final 4 Team. 2nd year PG 6'2 Junior Evan Legg (2nd Team SVC, 3rd Team All-District) returns with 6'6 Caleb Southworth (3rd team SVC, HM All-District) and 6'6 Keenan Brush (HM SVC). The Streaks will also return letter winners 5'9 Jr. Jared Vulgamore (hero of the Regional Final game) 5'10 Sr. James Lewis, 6'2 Jr. Jamie Helton, 6'1 Sr. Garrett Barker, 6'2 Jr. Jacob Braniff. Returning to the streaks from injuries last season will be 6'2 Sr. Jordan Miller, 6'1 Sr. Jordan Buckler, and 6'2 Jr. Trent Williams, add members of the SVC Champion Reserve Team and SVC Champion incoming freshmen.


Piketon is led by Coach Jeff lisath (graduate Portsmouth High School/Miami University-Ohio) in his 6th season at the helm of the Redstreaks.  Coach Lisath won the '78 State championship as a player and as an assistant coach in '88 at Portsmouth High School.  Other State appearances : '90 assistant coach at Portsmouth and '09 head coach of Piketon.  Coach Lisath's record at Piketon in his 5-year tenure is 69W-46L, having led the Streaks to 2 Waverly Holiday Classic titles, 1 SVC championship, 3 Sectional titles, 1 District title, 1 Regional title, and 1 State apperance.  Coach Lisath's overall record is 200-118.


 

Last Season Piketon finished 1st in the SVC tied with Westfall.  Piketon finished at #8 in the final AP DIII Poll.  The Streaks defeated Lynchburg Clay and Eastern Brown in the Sectional Tournament at Waverly High School to claim their 11th Sectional title in school history.  The Streaks claimed their 3rd District title by defeating Ironton and Westfall in their 18th District apperaance.  In their 3rd appearance i the regional tournament, the Streaks won their 1st Regional crown by defeating North Adams and Columbus Grandview Heights.  making its 1st apperance in the State tournament, Piketon lost to Cleveland Central Catholic in the State Semi-Finals "CCC" defeated Defiance Tinora in the State Finals for the DIII championship.

After playing one of the most challenging schedules in school history (5 games vs ranked opponents) the Redstreaks will again entertain a very tough schedule, starting @ The Zane Trace Tip Off Classic vs. DII Hillsboro, the schedule includes six DII opponents with teams such as Columbus Mifflin, Zanesville, Waverly, and Vinton County.


 

Piketon is looking for these All-Time "First" this season: Win 3rd consecutive Waverly Holiday Classic (since county schools began participating in 1997 no school has won three in a row). Win consecutive league titles (no Piketon Team has ever won back to back SVC Titles). Win 3rd consecutive Sectional Title (no Piketon Team has ever won three in a row). Win consecutive District and or Regional Titles (no Piketon Team has ever won back to back District Titles; therefore no opportunities to win and Regional or make it to the Final 4).     Win a State Title....
